Club announcement

Following the announcement that Wynand Van Zyl has left the club to take on a new opportunity, Congleton RUFC is delighted to announce the appointment of Lee Pickles as its Director of Rugby and Senior Rugby Coach. He will start in his new position on Thursday 1st April 2021, and this role will also include a wider remit with the clubs M&J Director of Rugby answering directly to Lee.

Lee joins us with a fantastic rugby pedigree and is currently the Head of Rugby at Lymm High School, which boasts an impressive rugby tradition and was previously Head Coach at Leek RUFC, before joining Congleton.

Upon his appointment Lee said “I am delighted to be appointed by Congleton RUFC as Director of Rugby and Senior Rugby Coach. Every person I have spoken to so far has so much passion for the club and wants to see it succeed. I’m hoping that with my experience and working with some passionate members, we can bring new ideas to drive the club forward. We hope to bring success to the club on the field and off it too, keep an eye out for what we are doing and help us achieve our goals.”

Club Chairman Chris Brady commented “Lee has a great reputation locally within the game, and is one of the new generation of highly talented young coaches who has had great success at an early age, and we look forward to working with him to deliver the vision we have for our Club. Please join me in welcoming Lee in to the Congleton RUFC rugby family.”
