Chairman's Update

Christopher Brady

Announcement

Dear members,

As we near the end of the 2021 /22 season, I wanted to give you a short update on what we have achieved over the past few months, building on the hard work that was undertaken the previous year.

Like a lot of clubs, from grass roots level all the way to elite rugby, Covid has had a significant impact on all our lives, and on our club, but it is testament to the hard working volunteers, players and members of Congleton RUFC, that we have not only weathered this prolonged period, but come through it with new building blocks in place that will hopefully provide the club with a strong future and enable us to move forward now that Covid restrictions seem to be coming to an end.

Over the past two years, with the unwavering support of number of key individuals, we have overseen and project managed the total refurbishment of our beloved club house, acquired have two new senior team sponsors and we have all but finished a total ground up rebuild of the changing rooms. This coupled with finally getting back to playing regular rugby is something we should all be very proud of. There is still much to do, but we are on the right track.

Undertaking such massive projects has been incredibly time consuming and has taken a huge number of man hours by a lot of people, and I can’t thank them enough for all they have done.

It is therefore with real sadness that I am informing you that as of the end of this season, I will be stepping down as Chairman of Congleton RUFC and also relinquishing my responsibilities of the Mini & Junior section. This decision is something I’ve battled with over the last few months and it has been a very difficult one for me to make, but purely due to personal and family reasons, I am no longer able to give the role the time and focus it needs, or to do the role justice and feel it is therefore only right that I now pass the baton to the next person, who can hopefully continue to build on what we have all achieved over what will be two and a bit years come the end of the season. I will be remaining as a Trustee as I want to help continue to support the club in any way I can.

There are so many people I need to thank, but instead of naming them all on here, I will be speaking to them all in person to relay my gratitude.

Thank you all so much for the support you have shown me and I’ll absolutely be seeing you at the bar soon.

Your faithfully,

Chris Brady
