Congleton Vs Eccleshall

Extraordinary endeavors exceed expectations eclipsing Eccleshall

Congleton 1st XV welcomed Eccleshall to Hankinson's field for this friendly against higher level opposition with an air of nervous expectation. The crowd expected to be treated to some free flowing champagne Rugby and Congleton did not disappoint.
The first 30 minutes yielded arguably Congleton's best half hour of the season, with Rus "Hoof" Williams being heard to say it was the best he has had ever seen a Congleton side perform in his long years of association with the club.
Whilst the details remain as sketchy as the half eaten kebab sat next to my computer, tries from Kanarous's'ss's's's's, Mark "the more pies I eat the faster I become" Beresford, Greg "the Machine" Wood and some people contributed to an awesome victory 31 - 26 (I think).
The forward effort was immense, with the tight 5 nudging the line out and achieving parity in the scrum throughout, to provide a platform for our fast running backs to slice through the Eccleshall back division like a proverbial knife through butter. In short, the forwards provided the cudgels, and the exceptional Kanauros (x2), Williams and thus far player of the season Beresford were the rapiers. Also some big Debut action from inside centre Bracewell who is clearly formed from the same igneous rock as Kenny Prowse on the basis of this display.
Man of the match was Reardon who played out of position at prop and excelled in the tight (against an opposite number who has seen a lot of scrummages and Gregg's delicacies before) and loose. Frankly, any one of the 19 man squad could scooped the award, as the performance exemplified what Captain Broderick, Colour Sergeant Somers and Head Coach Richard Von Burkard are building this season.
In short, bad game to miss Burky.
